Fedora Activity Day - RVCE College

Few days back Rahul suggested to organize FAD activity in RVCE college, some of us sent mail to him to be part of it. Shakti Created a event page on Fedora wiki and put all the prerequisite details. Around 60 participants registered for the event on wiki.

We reached around 0900 IST to college, after breakfast Shakti started with his presentation about "i-want-2-do-project-tell-me-wht-2-do" followed by git workshop, he used love letter presentation to get students attention and kinda succeed :), Meanwhile Charles Rose joined us.  After that I gave a talk about "How to file bug report" I didn't have any presentation, Just used fedora wiki and Bugzilla to show them whole process, how to create account -> Select distro -> Select component -> fill the template.

Post my talk we went for Lunch, had a discussion about emerging/existing conferences on Open Source then Renuka Prasad took us for campus tour, kinda nice campus :)

Post Lunch Shakti started with "RPM Packaging"  using his Panner Butter Masala slides, followed by my talk about using "fedora-review" tool which I found a really good for review. I also talk about how to file a review request and get sponsored. Then Shakti shared some links like using Xchat, Pro-Git Book, Packaging wishlist.

Now it was Charles turn and he talked about Virtualization on Fedora with KVM, he showed how to manage/Create VM, talked about libvirt, what are the approaches to virtualization and different hypervisiors, I/O virtualization. Then presented about KVM-Execution block diagram. We warped-up around 1600 IST.

It was a good experience, got good number of participation (interesting discussion happen). Thanks to Renuka Prasad for taking care all the stuff and organizing it well. Thanks to all participates to come for FAD in Sunday early morning :)
